Course Objectives
Participants will be made fully aware of the legislation applicable to IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and the ICAO Technical Instructions for shiping radioactive materials by air. At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Complet and check dangerous goods documentation in accordance with IATA DGR and ICAO TI
- Identify, classify, pack, mark and label radioactive materials to IATA and ICAO standards
- Offer consignments of radioactive materials ready for transport to teh operators
- Apply emergency procedures for dealing with radioactive material incidents
Course Contents
- General usage of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and the ICAO Technical Instructions
- Use of alphabetical and numerical listings
- State and operator variations
- Excepted dangerous goods
- Airline acceptance procedures
- Emergency procedures for damaged packages
- Identification, classification, packing, marking, labelling and documentation of radioactive materials
- Acceptance of radioactive shipments by airlines
Audience
This course is meant for shippers, freight forwarders and airline personnel who require to transport radiocative materials and who have no knowledge of dangerous goods handling and transportation by air.
Assessment
- A proficiency test will be held on the last day of the course
- Upon passing, each participant will receive a certificate which is valid for 2 years and recognized by IATA
