Course Objectives
Participants will be made fully aware of the legislation applicable to air transport and the ICAO procedures for classifying dangerous goods. At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Complete and check dangerous goods documentation in accordance with IATA and ICAO regulations
- Identify, classify, pack, mark and label dangerous goods to IATA and ICAO standards
- Offer consignments of dangerous goods ready for transport to the operators
- Apply emergency procedures for dealing with dangerous goods incidents
Course Contents
- General usage of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and the ICAO Technical Instructions
- Use of alphabetical and numerical listings
- State and operator variations
- Excepted dangerous goods
- Airline acceptance procedures
- Emergency procedures for damaged packages
- Identification, classification, packing, marking, labelling and acceptance of radioactive and non-radioactive shipments
Audience
This course is meant for cargo agents, shippers, freight forwarders and airline personnel who require to transport dangerous goods and who have no knowledge of dangerous goods handling and transportation by air.
Assessment
- A proficiency test of 3 hours will be held on the last day of the course
- Upon passing the test, each participant will receive a certificate which is valid for 2 years and recognised by IATA
